Running a business is not an easy task, running two businesses while going through a worldwide pandemic sounds even more challenging, but Deborah Henning manages to find a positive light in these unfavorable circumstances.
Last month, Deborah Henning appeared as a guest on The Talking Ape Podcast with her life partner, Elie-Charles Youssef. During the chat, Deborah shares her personal experience on how she overcomes the challenges and roadblocks of her own Dubai-based label she launched in 2014.
Throughout the episode of Pivot or Perish she and Elie-Charles talks about personal growth, dealing through tough times and upcoming projects.
“A good friend of ours said to me once- you only have ten credits of energy in a day. It stuck with me so heavily; and if you are spending five of them trying to fix problems, you have a depleted amount to go on and do the things that make you happy or bring you joy”, she says.
Going through drastic changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic made Deborah re-evaluate her personal life and her business as her main trajectory now lies within the digital aspect of her label. Undergoing a digital transformation is now more important than ever. Deborah’s goal is to implement a consistent digital connection by creating additional platforms that will enhance the experience and grow interaction with consumers.
She also opens up about embarking on the journey of motherhood and juggling work simultaneously.
Deborah shares , “When is the right time? I think this is what haunts a lot of women, especially the ones that have careers or women who don’t want to have kids until they are ‘ready’. Obviously, age is a thing. I think I just have to be pragmatic about the situation and I have to make it work. I think working from home during this pandemic has given me that clarity to think that I actually can do this. I have a great team, I have the right people that I can reach out to”.
Don’t forget to share your “pivot or perish” moments!
