To apply for the Start-Up of the year award, Deborah had to give a run down of the business, the start-up and the vision of the future. Having 14 years experience in design and consulting, Deborah showcased the balance of business acumen and creative ability needed to run a successful fashion label.
‘Being creative is one thing, but running a business is a completely different ballgame – you need skills in all areas such as finance, sales, marketing, events, production and networking. Not all of these things come naturally and it takes time and dedication to acquire these skills and then hone them to work effectively in your industry’ – Deborah Henning
Deborah was interviewed by successful entrepreneurs and business directors such as Hadi El Solh – Managing Partner at SHL, Assia Riccio – Founder of Evolvin’ Women and Lucy Bradley – Founder of My Micropolis, sharing her story and business growth since launching the label in 2014. The awards winners will be announced on October 11th at The Westin, Mina Seyahi, Dubai.
‘It has been such a great experience to start a company and launch a label in Dubai, this city offers so much opportunity and speedy growth for young businesses – its a great place to be. I’ve had the chance to sell my line in amazing stores such as Harvey Nichols as well as work with renowned universities and other young brands who need guidance and advice. It’s been a fruitful journey so far’ – Deborah Henning
